How to Remove Shortcut Virus From Computer, Hard disk, Pen Drive, USB, Memory card?
Pen drive is the best tool to carry any data and it’s very good tool to transfer data from one computer to other computer. Sometime our files and folder in pen drive are shown as shortcut. This is very common problem not happen only in your pen drive but memory card and hard disk.
First of all let me tell you what shortcut virus is. Often we use USB pen drive or memory cards in our computer and sometime we see our all file are changed into shortcut files that time is very annoying when we see that type of virus in our computer. Shortcut virus is a virus which changes your original files into shortcut icon of your folders or file.
Shortcut virus is very annoying virus because antivirus can remove this virus from your computer and USB pen drives but the files gets hidden and can't be recovered in easy way.
Whenever you will try to open these shortcut folders or file the window will show an error “shortcut missing” and that time you will fear losing your important data and sometime you just format your drive.
No need to format your pen drive because your original files or folder are hidden and you can see only the shortcut files or folders. This is a type of virus. So, there are some simple steps to delete these shortcuts and recover your data. No need to install any antivirus because we don’t need for this type of virus. Here we will use command prompt to remove the shortcut virus from pen drive.
So, there is only one method to remove this virus from computer is command prompt. So let me share the steps to remove shortcut virus from computer and USB pen drive.
Steps to Remove Shortcut Virus are: -
1) First go to Start >> then RUN >> Type CMD
2) Now Command prompt will be appear on your screen.
3)Find out in what drive of your computer the virus/shortcut are located. Go to My Computer (for Windows 7 or below) or This PC; you'll notice the C, D, E, etc drives.
4)Type the drive name which is infectected for example in my case drive G: is infected
type drive_name followed by a colon (G:)
5) Now type this command attrib -h -r -s /s /d *.*

Go to CMD and type in the commands.
- For example, the virus is located in "G" drive, then just type " attrib -h -r -s /s /d *. *"
- -h: to unhide all files on drive G
- -r: create the files in drive W is free of read-only attribute.
- -s: making all files on drive W to be not part of the system again, so easy in the clear
- *. *: All files ending in
6) Now Press Enter
The bigger the files, the longer the processing takes.
- Wait until you see "drive name " again (in this case "G:"). It means that drive will unhide all the folders in your drive.
7) Check your drive again. The folders are now retrieved together with the shortcut viruses.
- Remove unnecessary files, the shortcut files that are not supposed to be there.
- You might find autorun.inf or desktop.ini; simply delete them.
8)Use antivirus to scan the infected drive.
Recover you Files using WINRAR
You can recover your all file by using WINRAR. Just Follow the below steps and recover your file easily
1) First of all open WINRAR.
2) Now navigate your PC drive or USB Pen drive Location.
3) Now copy all the files and paste anywhere you want.
4) Finally Format your Drive or USB pen drive.
5) Now you can copy all the data again in your drive or USB pen drive
Suggestion: If your Drive or USB Pen drive affected again and again then use Avast antivirus and “do Boot Time Scan” to remove this virus completely from your drive.
